Weekend Highlights: GLAdiators, Benoni Tagoe, NAACP Mixer, Mobb Deep and More!

Are you ready for the weekend? I know we are! It’s the official kick-off to summer and if you’re in town, don’t feel like you’re missing out. There are a bunch of ways to “Find Your Fab!” If you see me say hey! Check back for updates and as always tell ’em who sent ya!

gLAdiatorWednesday, May 20th

Come out to Design Studio for Social Intervention (1946 Washington Street Roxbury) 6:00pm – 9:00pm to hear Benoni Tagoe, the business developer and producer of the popular web series, The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl. Hear his story of the success of Awkward Black Girl, and his personal mission to inspire and educate others to remain consistent as they persevere to achieve their dreams. Registration is FREE, but let them know you’re coming here.

GLAdiator performs at Naga (450 Massachusetts, Cambridge) 9:00pm. Tickets are $10.00. This event is 19+.

Boston NAACP MixerThursday, May 21st

Have you gone to a recent protest and left wanting to do more? Feel that what you are doing individually isn’t enough to further the movement? Join YPN-ULEM (88 Warren St, Roxbury) tonight at 6:00pm – 8:00pm for a robust conversation & discuss ideas on how to follow up your protest efforts with concrete action. This event is FREE and open to the public. RSVP so that they know to expect you.

The Boston NAACP invites you to come out to Savvor (180 Lincoln St) 6:30pm – 1:00am  for a great evening of music, networking, hors-d’oeuvres and dancing fundraiser! They will also announce and present to the public the 2015 Difference Maker Awardees. Suggested donation is $20.00. You can purchase your tickets in advanced here for $15.00.

The Haute House invites you to experience Living Art at Artists For Humanity/EpiCenter (100 W 2nd St., Southie) 6:00pm – 10:00pm Experience the best and brightest fashion design students showcase their talent to tastemakers and lifestyle influencers. They will be given a chance to win $500 toward producing their next collection awarded by The Haute House. Tickets are $30.00 and can be purchased here! Proceeds of sales will benefit the charity Dress for Less.

Tonight Future Boston, Startup Institute, & Arts Emerson come together for Future Boston’s 3 year Birthday Party! at the Paramount Theater at Emerson College (555 Washington St, Theater District) 7:00pm – 11:00pm. This event is FREE, but RSVP here so they know you’re coming.

Doors 2 the Outdoors invites you to get some exercise, unwind, meet new people, reconnect with old friends, and soak up some sun with a great view of the city sky line from Peters Hill! Meet at Forest Hills T station at 11am. From there, they will walk to and through the Arboretum. Snacks and good company will be provided! RSVP here so that they know you’re coming!

Join City Councillor Tito Jackson for his Annual Turkey Fry Block Party at 37 Schuyler St, Roxbury from 12:00pm – 7:00pm. There will be fried turkey, hamburgers, hot dogs, and vegeterian options. This is a family-friendly event that is FREE for everyone! No need to RSVP, just come on through!

Stunt at the SuaveLife Day Party at Garage Boston (20 Linden St, Allston) 3:30pm – 9:30pm. Music by Fab Award-Winning DJ Papadon and Amarie. FREE food and live body art. Tickets are $10.00 before 5:00pm.

Join Design Museum Boston and the Society of North American Goldsmiths for an exciting and alternative fashion show of 3D printed jewelry at Boston Park Plaza (50 Park Plaza, Boston) 7:30pm – 12:00am. Tickets start at $40.00. You can get yours here!

Mobb Deep performs at The Middle East (472 Massachusetts Ave) 8:00pm. Tickets are $25.00 in advanced, and $30.00 at the door. This is an 18+ show. Get your tickets here!

Tonight, The Good Life (28 Kingston St) is all about “The Hits” with DJ Big Bear, YVNG PAVL and Thami Mottola. $10.00 gets you in. 21+.

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with Fab Award Nominee LiteWork Events, La Familia and Post Game Fashion at Before Sunset at Emerald Lounge (200 Stuart St) 5:00pm – 10:00pm. Tickets are $10.00 and must be purchased in advanced. Get yours here!

Fab Award-Nominee The Wave is back at Middlesex Lounge (315 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge) 4:30pm – 10:00pm. Tickets start at $5.00 if you buy them on-line. $10.00 at the door. DJ’s Nu (A Lil’ Louder), Big Bear and Spicoli will be on the tables. You gotta be 21+ to get through the door. Get your tickets here!

Any Given Sunday day party is at Savvor (180 Lincoln St) 3:00pm – 10:00pm! DJ’s Nxt Era, Amero and DJ Mad Mixx will be on the tables! There’s no cover and the kitchen will be open!

Moska are continuing their Sunday day parties. Today, it will have a white party theme! No cover and good eats! (450 Massachusetts Ave, Camridge) 4:00pm – 2:00am.

Get a taste of unique fashions at the City Chic Fashion Explosion and New England’s Next Top Model Competition taking place at Florian Hall (55 Halet St, Dorchester) 5:00pm. Tickets are $30.00 at the door and proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
